Description: After a tragic F5 tornado hit Joplin, Missouri in May 2011 many individuals and corporations in the Midwest United States rallied together to support those affected. One of those corporations was TricorBraun, a packaging service company, headquartered in St. Louis, MO. With the Joplin community in mind, TricorBraun hosted a live, online auction and fundraiser to benefit the disaster relief in Joplin, Missouri.
The Net Impact developed perhaps the most crucial element for the event, an online auction site that allowed auction attendees to cast bids during the event using iPads. Attendees used the iPad application to select a bid item, enter their badge number and input a bid amount. The system used for the auction tracks and simultaneously displays high bidders and the current bid amount on the screen.
The most unique aspect of the event was the items up for bid. TricorBraun actually auctioned off one-of-a-kind bobble head’s of their 23 top executives. That’s right, bobble head bids. To amplify fundraising efforts even more, TricorBraun matched the final bids of each bobble head, totaling $12,373, with a final donation of nearly $25,000 for Joplin relief. That’s worth a nod!
Results: The Net Impact helped TricorBraun turn their yearly sales meeting into a mobile auction to raise excitement for a great cause. Through this mobile auction site, TricorBraun was able to lead an exciting, highly digital event to raise $25,000 for the Joplin disaster relief. The difference in this year’s sales meeting was the fundraiser. Thrilled with the participation and feedback, and with 158 bids from 71 unique bidders, The Net Impact was successful in their first mobile marketing event site.
